Lucia was amazing, the mad scene was epic. We also were blown away by Norma. What a luxury to stroll a few blocks to our little community theatre to see an opera. Front and centre for $20.00. May I suggest a general discussion thread for fans who just want to drop by and say, "Bravo!"

Bravo!
~katkatonickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12873376087312221437noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2236754433282040419.post-4616354777134622272008-01-21T23:31:00.000-08:002008-01-21T23:31:00.000-08:00Wheeeeee that was fun :) Nothing better than makin...Wheeeeee that was fun :) Nothing better than making noise with not only great singers, but great actors, and particularly actressesessess. gj Lucia!Markhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03768095267993428833noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2236754433282040419.post-25644461027302082008-01-21T23:29:00.000-08:002008-01-21T23:29:00.000-08:00Well, my 2 bits is that I just find OPC fun. Not always the case other places I see.Markhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03768095267993428833noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2236754433282040419.post-24087339805111330422008-01-18T19:00:00.000-08:002008-01-18T19:00:00.000-08:00I agree with this 100%. It is not intimate, and I don't feel like my individual presence makes a difference to anyone.

When I attend an Opera Pro Cantanti production, I am close enough to the stage to feel like I am really witnessing the emotions of the characters. Every time I see Rigoletto performed by OPC, I cry a little bit when Gilda is dying at the end.

I have never cried at a Vancouver Opera production. Why cry about a bunch of tiny ants way down there on the stage, when I am up in the mezzanine squinting to make out anything at all?

When I cheer for the singers after their arias at OPC, I know they can hear me and hopefully appreciate my enjoyment of their performances. Likewise for EVERY OTHER MEMBER of that audience.

And you can have popcorn at OPC...Annahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05020740372105494669noreply@blogger.com
